I grew up in the United States of America, and I have been pursuing a career in childcare and developmental psychology both in study and practice. My primary focus is on global mental health in children and adolescents. I have worked with youth in Guatemala, Costa Rica, Mexico, the United States, and now in Greece! I also worked for two years with a psychiatric hospital to help train educators to cultivate healthy and sensitive classroom environments. My experience has taught me that building trusting relationships is the key to working with children in any country, and that allowing them space to thrive at their natural pace facilitates healthy personal development. My research into the field of education reveals that integrating children of different backgrounds is not only an excellent way to reduce discrimination, but also benefits every group intellectually and developmentally. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to learn from the children at Mikros Dounias this year!
